South Asia Subregional Training Workshop on Project Pre-Feasibility Studies
Colombo Plaza Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka, 7-9 October 2003



Purpose

This PREGA project workshop aims to explain and discuss with participants on how to formulate pre-feasibility studies conforming to the requirements of international financial mechanisms such as CDM and to develop a pipeline of projects under the PREGA program.

Objectives

The objectives of the workshop are:

  • to enhance the participants' skills in preparing project pre-feasibility studies for projects applying renewable energy, energy efficiency and greenhouse gas abatement (REGA) technologies;
  • to familiarize them on policy, technical, economic, financial and environmental analysis, in line with project formulation and identification of greenhouse gas mitigation projects including CDM opportunities; and
  • to visit a mini-hydropower plant and observe its operations.

Target Participants

  • National Technical Experts and National Counterpart Agencies from Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
