Post Workshop Statement

Purpose

The meeting will bring together the 18 country endorsers of the Action Plan, discuss the progress made in the implementation of priority areas of reform and identify the next steps to be taken to further fight corruption in the region.

Objectives

At the end of the workshop, participants will have:

• discussed the progress made in the implementation of priority areas of reform in the framework of the Action Plan
• deliberated on the next steps to be taken in the framework of the Initiative that can further contribute to the combat against corruption in the region
• provided advice and assistance to endorsing countries that have not yet identified and submitted their priority areas of reform

Expected Outputs

• progress report on the implementation of priority areas of reform in the framework of the Action Plan and
• list of next steps to be taken to further combat corruption in the region

Target Participants

Participants include:

• the national contact from countries that have endorsed the Action Plan at the Tokyo Conference in November 2001
• members of the Advisory Group to the Steering Group
• representatives of relevant international institutions interested in supporting the Action Plan implementatin process and
• some observers from governments in Asia-Pacific
