Background

The Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (NARBO) was established in 2003 to share knowledge and build capacity for integrated water resources management (IWRM) in river basins throughout Asia.

One of the tools identified for sharing knowledge among the network's members is a NARBO website, which aims to provide information, updates and reminders about NARBO's work, knowledge partnership, publications and case studies, and other relevant materials.

Many of NARBO's members and knowledge partners have considerable experience in developing and maintaining websites that respond to their target audience' information needs. NARBO intends to harness this knowledge by convening the members and knowledge partners in a 2-day workshop designed to generate a better understanding of what NARBO members need from a NARBO website, and how the NARBO website can be better developed in terms of structure, content and design.

Objectives

  • Develop a better understanding of what NARBO members need from the NARBO website
  • Refine the structure, content and design of the NARBO website
  • Form a community of practice to support the NARBO web development team

Participants

The following participated in the workshop:

  • Selected representatives of NARBO river basin organization members
  • Website specialists from NARBO's knowledge partners, e.g. Mekong River Commission, Integrated Rice Research Institute, ADB, ADB Institute, Integrated Water Resources Institute (IWMI), etc.
