Poverty, Health and the Environment: Improving Knowledge to Respond to the Challenges in Asia-Pacific Region

Background

Aiming to better understand the complex synergies between poverty, health, and conservation, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and IUCN-The World Conservation Union are jointly undertaking a project focusing on poverty as it relates to the following:

  • livelihood and natural resources
  • conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity
  • health and ecosystems
  • political, institutional, and policy challenges

This project is in line with ADB's Poverty and Environment Program, which is aimed at discovering new approaches to protect, conserve, and promote the sustainable use of natural resources and ecosystem services for the benefit of the poor.

Objectives

The workshop aims to discuss a series of case studies and analytical papers related to health-poverty-conservation links in the region.

Expected Outputs

  • Peer-reviewed case studies and analytical papers

Target Participants

  • Development institutions, Governments, NGOs, stakeholders
