Workshops: Achieving Results in Private Sector Development - A Strategic Approach
Hanoi, Viet Nam - 10 November; Bangkok, Thailand - 17 November; Colombo, Sri Lanka - 24 November; and Manila, Philippines - TBD

Background

Support for private sector development (PSD) is an integral part of ADB's Poverty Reduction Strategy, and PSD is the pillar to economic growth. For this reason, RETA 6082: Supporting Country-Driven PSD Strategies was designed to build capacity and DMC ownership of the PSD agenda by providing conceptual guidance and a strategic approach to PSD strategies.

The RETA aims to develop a guide for a results-based PSD strategy process, including coordination, content development and implementation. The guide will highlight how to identify and focus on priority areas for PSD in an integrated manner. Particular challenges like horizontal and vertical integration in government, involving stakeholders, and measuring results will also be addressed.

Objectives

The workshops aim to consult participants on challenges and lessons learned in coordinating, developing and implementing PSD strategies. Workshop findings will serve to facilitate knowledge sharing among DMCs and to further develop a DMC guide for a results-based PSD strategy process prepared under the RETA.
