Roundtable on Energy Efficiency Planning and Market Development Strategies

Post-workshop Statement

The Roundtable provided a venue to discuss the energy efficiency issues in the Philippines and come up with specific recommendations including strategies and future priorities of the Philippine Government, private sector/ESCO/industry stakeholders, local financial institutions, and multilateral development agencies. It reopened doors of new opportunities for the relatively nascent industry on energy efficiency industry.

Purpose

This Roundtable is aimed at discussing energy efficiency issues in the Philippines and coming up with recommendations to expand the energy efficiency market in the Philippines.

Objectives

The objectives of the workshop are to:

  • identify and prioritize the driving forces of the energy efficiency market in the Philippines;
  • estimate energy efficiency market penetration in different sectors; and
  • provide strategic recommendation for the expansion of the energy efficiency market in the Philippines

Expected Outputs

Target Participants:

  • Government representatives from the Department of Energy (DOE) and Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP)
  • Representatives from energy service companies (ESCOs)
  • Representatives/staff from international/regional organizations/bilateral agencies (USAID, UNDP, UNIDO, and ADB).
