2nd Mekong Development Forum

The Forum seeks to deepen awareness on the challenges facing the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) and to draw attention on the wide range of investment opportunities in the GMS countries. The Forum will focus on the potential of public-private sector partnerships in the development and implementation of key infrastructure projects in the GMS.

Expected outcomes of the workshop are:
- indication of interest from the private sector on some or all of the projects presented,
- indication from the private sector to undertake further feasibility assessments of some or all of the projects,
- identification of specific risks to investments in GMS as perceived by the private sector including specific recommendations as well as the scope and nature of mitigation mechanisms and instruments acceptable to the private sector to overcome such risks,
- indication of further assistance from development partners directed at improving the private sector enabling environment.

Participation is by invitation only.
The Forum is targeting the participation of senior executives of about 60-80 large private sector transnational companies in East Asia (Australia, People's Republic of China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines and Singapore).
Also attending the Forum are high-level representatives from the GMS Governments as well as representatives from the various development agencies of the Government of Japan.
