ADB-ADBI-DFID Joint Workshop on Making Markets Work Better for the Poor (MMW4P)

This workshop aims to improve our understanding of how markets can be made to work better for the poor in the particular country context and to contribute to both the development debate and the policy-making process.

The objectives of the workshop are to

  • take stock of the MMW4P concept and the experience with its initiatives currently under way in Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa (supported by DFID and ADB)
  • inform and facilitate exchange of knowledge, practices and methodologies
  • help policymakers and professionals explore and operationalize the concept of making markets work for the poor.

  • Better documentation of the MMW4P concept and experiences of initiatives to inform development agencies and practitioners
  • Enhanced current and future country initiatives supported by DFID, ADB and other development partners working with the MMW4P concepts and approaches
  • Agenda for future work and collaboration in the areas of MMW4P
