East and Central Asia Subregional Training and Planning Workshop

This workshop aims to further enhance the capacity of the national counterpart agency (NCA) coordinators and national technical experts (NTEs) under the PREGA project. In particular, it will enable them in enhancing their skills in preparing project pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.

The objectives of the workshop are:
- to enhance the capacity of the country participants in preparing pre-feasibility and feasibility studies (including conducting formal economic, financial, environmental and social analyses) in projects applying renewable energy, energy efficiency and other GHG abatement (REGA) technologies and services
- to provide the opportunity for each country team to present the results of activities under Phase 1 of PREGA
- to provide a platform for developing appropriate policy strategies and use of innovative financial opportunities, including those available through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Global Environmental Facility (GEF), for addressing barriers to REGA implementation
- to review, discuss implementation issues and obtain feedback on activities being planned under Phase 2 of PREGA
