This workshop aims to further enhance the capacity of the national counterpart agency (NCA) coordinators and national technical experts (NTEs) under the PREGA project. In particular, it will enable them in enhancing their skills in preparing project pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.

Objectives

The objectives of the workshop are:

to enhance the capacity of the country participants in preparing pre-feasibility and feasibility studies (including conducting formal economic, financial, environmental and social analyses) in projects applying renewable energy, energy efficiency and other GHG abatement (REGA) technologies and services
to provide the opportunity for each country team to present the results of activities under Phase 1 of PREGA
to provide a platform for developing appropriate policy strategies and use of innovative financial opportunities, including those available through the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Global Environmental Facility (GEF), for addressing barriers to REGA implementation
to review, discuss implementation issues and obtain feedback on activities being planned under Phase 2 of PREGA

Country review reports and pre-feasibility studies in Phase 1 presented and improved
Informed participants on appropriate policy strategies and innovative financial opportunities
Country Work Plans for PREGA Phase 2 have been developed and discussed
