Kyoto Protocol Day: New Opportunities for Investing in Cleaner Development

The Asian Development Bank will host a breakfast event on Wednesday, 16 February 2005, to commemorate the entry into force of the Kyoto Protocol.

The Kyoto Protocolis a landmark international agreement that sets binding targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by industrialized countries to mitigate risks from global climate change. It establishes new market-based financial mechanisms to help developing countries mainstream alternative energy, sustainable agriculture, forestry, and other projects that contribute to both greenhouse gas reduction and sustainable development.

The event will be attended by representatives from the Philippine Government, including Secretary Vincent Perez, Department of Energy, and Secretary Michael Defensor, Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
