The Network of Asian River Basin Organizations (NARBO) Secretariat, with the Red River Basin Organization in Viet Nam, will hold the first in a series of thematic workshop designed to improve knowledge and capacity on integrated river basin water resources management. The first thematic workshop will focus on water allocation and water rights – declared as pressing issues by NARBO member organizations in various meetings and consultations.
NARBO was established to share knowledge and build capacity for integrated water resources management (IWRM) in river basins throughout Asia as well as to strengthen river basin organizations’ (RBOs) capacity and effectiveness in promoting IWRM and improving water governance.

To share information and exchange experiences on water allocation and water rights for I ntegrated River Basin Water Resource Management among the participating countries.
At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to prepare a report on the issues and strategies for improving water allocation and water rights in their respective countries.

The workshop is designed for NARBO members and experts working at the national and/or river basin water management agencies in Southeast and East Asia that have particular exposure with water allocation and water rights issues.
Twenty six people, including 8 international participants, 14 Vietnamese participants and 5 NARBO secretariat participants, are expected to attend.
