The Seminar on Trade Facilitation and eGovernance, co-sponsored by ADB, Korea Customs Service (KCS), National Tax Service (NTS), Ministry of Information and Communication (MIC), and Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA), was held in Daejeon and Seoul, Korea on 5-8 December 2005.
The Seminar aimed to:
- share Republic of Korea’s e-governance solutions and best practices, and
- promote cooperation between customs and tax administration agencies through information and communications technology.
The Seminar highlighted the experience of the Republic of Korea in delivering e-government services and its application in trade facilitation and key public administration reforms specifically in customs automation, logistics and tax administration modernization.
The Seminar is one of the continuing initiatives to support CAREC participating countries in their long-term goal of integrating customs and tax services through information and communications technology, which is one of the priority areas under the Trade Facilitation and Customs Cooperation Program.

The Seminar brought together 15 customs officials and 14 tax officials from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, People's Republic of China, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
