Better Air Quality (BAQ) 2006 Workshop

BAQ 2006 will be "A Celebration of Efforts" to highlight the success stories of Asian countries, cities and communities in addressing air pollution while at the same time highlighting the efforts that are still needed to improve air quality in Asia.

BAQ 2006 will have more than 200 speakers in 5 plenary, 9 sub-plenary, and 33 working group sessions, divided into four streams:

  • general Air Quality Management
  • transport
  • stationary sources
  • global issues

An important supporting event will be the First Governmental Meeting on Urban Air Quality in Asia, organized by the United Nations Environment Programme, the Ministry of Environment, Republic of Indonesia, and CAI-Asia.

About 900 participants are expected to participate in BAQ 2006 from more than 35 countries, with a third coming from outside Asia. Some participants will come from CAI-Asia’s local networks in the PRC, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Viet Nam, and Sri Lanka. A good mix of key government and local government officials, representatives from academe, NGOs, development agencies, and private sector is expected.
