Clean Energy Week

ADB Headquarters, Manila, Philippines: 20-22 June 2006

Background | Objective | Expected Outputs | Participants | Resource Speakers

ADB’s Clean Energy Week was a knowledge sharing event among practitioners and policymakers engaged in cross-cutting issues of clean energy development and financing, climate change, energy access and security, and governance in the energy sector. The Clean Energy Week provided a unique opportunity for ADB’s developing member countries (DMC), donor governments, NGOs, and other players with an important stake in the Asian energy agenda to interact and exchange lessons learned across the region.

The timing of the event was important for ADB. The Clean Energy Week preceded the July 2006 meeting of the Group of Eight whereby ADB contributed towards the development of an Investment Framework on Climate Change, Clean Energy and Sustainable Development. Work is ongoing to develop an action plan to address the problems associated with energy efficiency and climate change in the transport sector.

Similarly, the three-day event also contributed to discussions necessary for ADB as it rethinks its own energy policy and reformulate a more strategic approach to address energy needs of its DMCs.
