The Seminar on the World Customs Organization (WCO) Framework of Standards and Customs Data Model was held in Urumqi, PRC on 12-14 July 2006. The Seminar was co-sponsored by ADB and the General Administration of PRC Customs.
The Seminar will:
- provided guidance for the implementation of the WCO Framework of Standards to Secure and Facilitate Global Trade (SAFE),
- presented modern customs tools such as the Customs Data Model, and
- provided a venue for policy dialogue and knowledge-sharing among country delegates.

The Seminar brought together 27 deputy heads and senior officials of customs administrations from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, People's Republic of China, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

This Seminar, held in Hoi Tak Hotel, Urumqi, was the 6th regional event sponsored by PRC Customs for CAREC's Trade Facilitation Program.

The State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan was represented by (L-R) Shahin Baghirov and Dilavar Farzaliyev.

The Seminar was chaired by Mr. Wang Donghong, Deputy Director General, Department of International Cooperation, General Administration of Customs, People's Republic of China.

The Tajikistan delegation was led by Mr. Ibrohim Mirzoev, Deputy Head, Customs Department.

The Kyrgyz delegation was led by Mr. Kumushbek Kurmanaliev, Deputy Director, State Customs Inspectorate.

The Kazakhstan delegation was led by Mr. Alikhan Mambetalin, Deputy Chairman, Customs Control Committee, Ministry of Finance.
