The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Thailand's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) inaugurated on 26 April 2006 the new GMS Environment Operations Center (EOC). Dr. Monthip Sritana Tabucanon, Deputy Permanent Secretary, MONRE and Mr. Arjun Thapan, Deputy Director General, Southeast Asia Department, ADB led the ceremonial ribbon-cutting.

The EOC was established to serve as the information and knowledge clearinghouse for environment in the GMS. It will handle the GMS Core Environment Program's day-to-day operations as well as serve as secretariat to the GMS Working Group on Environment (WGE).

Through the GMS Core Environment Program and EOC, ADB hopes to help accelerate the development of sound environmental management systems and institutions in the subregion.

The EOC is situated right next to the Thailand Resident Mission located at The Offices at Central World, 999/9 Rama I Road, Pathumwan, Bangkok.
