This symposium, held on the 10th anniversary from the start of the Asian financial crisis, aims to review how Asian countries underwent dramatic changes during the past two decades, from the rapid economic growth of the mid-1990s to the large setbacks during the crisis, to today’s renewed sustained expansion.

The audience will learn from the discussions by distinguished speakers—including current and former economic leaders from the five countries most-affected by the crisis—on the future of Asia and the prospects for deepening regional cooperation and integration. Particular issues to be addressed are: exchange rate trends, management of international reserves, and visions for monetary and financial integration in Asia.
