Philippines Consultation Workshop

Philippines is one of the four developing member countries covered by the RETA project, which aims to introduce a framework of our undertaking the diagnosis and analysis of the developing constraints faced by the economy. An inception workshop was organized on 29-30 July 2007, which introduced the study to a broad group including representatives from key government agencies, research and academic institutions, and the private sectors.
Following the inception workshop, the study team comprising experts of leading academic institutions has been working on the various aspects of Philippine economy including studies on macroeconomic management, trade and investment, infrastructure, social development, finance, governance and institutions, and poverty reduction. The consultation workshop will present a synthesis of findings from the studies and will discuss various policy options to address the most critical of these constraints.

The workshop will provide a forum to discuss findings of the study on Philippines and solicit feedback from some of the key stakeholders involved in macroeconomic and development planning in the country. The feedback will be crucial in finalizing the country study.
