Greater Mekong Subregion Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting

This is the first meeting of GMS agriculture ministers. It was proposed by GMS leaders during their second summit, in Kunming, July 2005. The purpose is to review progress in GMS cooperation in agriculture, endorse the Strategic Framework for Subregional Cooperation in Agriculture and Core Agriculture Support Program (CASP), and discuss implications for the GMS of new trends in agriculture.

At the end of the meeting, GMS agriculture ministers will have:
- a greater sense of the nature and needs for regional cooperation in agriculture
- committed their countries to the CASP
- better knowledge of how the changing face of global agriculture may affect their countries
