Labor-based Road Maintenance Workshop

Solomon Islands: 22-24 October 2007

In conjunction with ADB's Road Improvement Project (cofinanced by AusAID and NZAID), Staff from ADB’s Pacific Department will participate in a workshop on Labor Based Road Maintenance in Honiara. Officials from national and provincial government, private sector contractors, community groups, and development partners will also participate in the workshop.

The expected outcomes include recommended practices for community engagement and contracting that will be implemented on a trial basis through this project and ADB's Emergency Assistance Project.

Participation is by invitation only but the workshop is open to Solomon Islands media for select sessions. Targeted participants include:

  • Government officials
  • Donors
  • Contractors
  • Mr Peter Hauia, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Infrastructure, Solomon Islands Government.
