As lead country of the WG, Malaysia presented the report of the 1^st WG Meeting on Trade and Investment. The meeting noted the progress report on the various projects from the 4^th Implementing Technical Group (ITG) Meeting on Trade and In-situ Development. The WG discussed the status of agreements in the Bilateral Payments Arrangement (BPA) and trade facilitation activities. A briefing was held regarding the IMT-GT SME Conference and Trade Expo which would be held on 6^th - 9^th December 2007 in Penang, Malaysia, and it was agreed that members of the WG would promote the Expo organized by the respective countries among the business communities. The meeting exchanged views on the IMT-GT Roadmap Action Plan and proposed revisions on items pertaining to trade and investment. It was noted that new project proposals for 2008 need to be identified and submitted to the lead-country of the WG, with the Joint Business Council (JBC) requested to submit through the respective National Secretariats. Thailand and Indonesia informed of the planned establishment of new IMT-GT Plazas in Patthalung Province and Pekanbaru, Riau Province respectively. Indonesia additionally proposed an Agriculture Product Auction Market and invited the participation of IMT-GT members.
