Financing Village-Level Energy for Development in Asia-Pacific

The workshop will engage a wide range of stakeholders to participate and contribute to the beginnings of a platform of learning and exchange on innovations in financing the provision of village level sustainable energy, including suitable microfinance and carbon finance initiatives across the region. ADB is cohosting this workshop together with The Foundation for Development Cooperation (FDC) and Global Village Energy Program (GVEP) International.

The forum will be a knowledge-sharing event and will focus on the methodologies and options available for financing and implementing sustainable energy supply initiatives, including microfinance and carbon finance initiatives. Through targeted sessions on financing approaches and opportunities, carbon financing, access to modern energy options, public private partnerships, case studies on micro-financing, implementation challenges, , the workshop will identify next steps in scaling up modern energy services through innovative approaching for financing. The workshop will also serve as a stimulant for a number of follow-up activities of FDC, GVEP as well as a kick-off event of ADB's Energy for All Initiative for Southeast Asia and Pacific region.

The forum will bring together key stakeholders of about 70-90 senior officials and representatives from governments, financial institutions, NGOs, private sector, international development institutions and other practitioners. The workshop is mainly focused on countries in Southeast Asia and Pacific.
