The Inception Meeting of the Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area Regional Environment Program (BIMP-EAGA REP) was held last 17-18 April 2008 at the Discovery Suite Hotel in Mandaluyong City. The meeting was organized by the Asian Development Bank. Co-chairing the meeting were:
- Ms. Merly Cruz, Chairperson, Philippines Senior Official for BIMP-EAGA
- Mr. Urooj Malik, Director, Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources Division, Southeast Asia Department, ADB

The meeting aims:
- to appreciate the importance of the regional technical assistance on Strengthening Sound Environmental Management on BIMP-EAGA
- discuss and agreed among stakeholders the preparatory steps on the implementation of the design phase of the BIMP-EAGA REP, the draft work program for the next 15 years, and institutional arrangement for pilot project implementation and regional coordination.

Participants at the BIMP-EAGA REP inception meeting included delegation from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines.
Observers and resource persons from the Governments of Australia, Spain, USA, ADB, ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN Center for Biodiversity, BIMP-EAGA Facilitation Center, Conservation International, and WWF also attended.
