The conference will discuss the following issues:
- How will a regional dimension, as in the case of the European Union, help Asia to better cope with a global financial turmoil?
- Do Asian economic authorities need to coordinate their monetary and exchange rate policies in order to prevent possible future currency and financial instability?
- Are there lessons that Asia and Europe can share, despite the pronounced differences between the two regions?
- Which integration and cooperation processes followed by Europe could inspire Asia to progress towards an Asian Economic Community?
- Are there regional best practices and decision-making mechanisms that the European Union could share with Asia?
