Small Piped Water Networks - Lessons Learned and the Way Forward

RETA 6265: Implementing Small Piped Water Networks (SPWN) demonstrates speedy delivery of piped water supply to urban and peri-urban areas in Manila, Philippines, Ahmedabad, India, and Tien Giang Province, Vietnam. It aimed to assist in accelerating the achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Target 10 on sustainable access to safe drinking water.

The seminar presented a synopsis of the results and lessons learned from the four (4) SPWN pilot projects. Specifically the presentation:

  • Showed how SPWN could serve as a quick and cost effective interim measure to accelerate MDG 10 achievement;
  • Shared insights on possible upscaling/replicating SPWN by the Regional Departments; and
  • Received inputs from RDs on draft program for the Regional Forum in April 17-18.
  • Received comments on the draft outline for the SPWN toolkit
