Second Negotiation Meeting on the Cross-Border Transport Agreement among the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and the People's Republic of China

Preparation of a Cross-Border Transport Agreement (CBTA) among the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and the People's Republic of China aims to remove nonphysical barriers to trade and to facilitate smooth trans-border movement of people and goods along CAREC Corridor 5. CBTA development is supported by RETA 6415: Cross-Border Agreement among the Kyrgyz Republic, People's Republic of China, and Tajikistan, which is attached to the Kyrgyz/Tajikistan Corridor Road Improvement Project.
The First Negotiation Meeting was held on 19-20 May 2009 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. It was organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Tajikistan.
The Second Negotiation Meeting was held on 29 June - 1 July. It was organized by ADB and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Representatives from the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan attended the meetings, which were facilitated by ADB staff and consultants.
