Transport Community of Practice Presentation: Do People Matter: Restoring Pedestrian Accessibility in Indian Cities

The objective of the presentation is to outline the serious environmental, health, welfare, and resource-use impacts caused by rapidly growing motor vehicle activity focusing on the vital importance of pedestrian accessibility given the characteristics of the Indian context. The presentation will cover the current status of pedestrian infrastructure and facilities, pedestrian accessibility, and the challenges confronting efforts to provide for pedestrians and non-motorized modes in Indian cities.
