Background & Rationale

ADB's Gender and Development Policy requires that a country gender assessment (CGA) is prepared as part of the upstream thematic assessments required for Country Partnership Strategy (CPS). The CGA provides background data on gender issues to inform the formulation of the CPS. The proposed study will complement the "Gender Situational Analysis" and will contribute to the comprehensive gender assessment for Indonesia.

Expected Outcome

The objective of the study is to analyze and document gender disparities in Indonesia and analyze how the identified issues affect in particular women. The study will assist the Government and the donor community in developing gender responsive policies, strategies and interventions. The study includes the following core elements among others: assessment of polices and machineries in promoting gender equity; assess institutional settings, roles and mandates of Government agencies responsible for gender mainstreaming; assessment of existing projects/programs on gender; critical issues for Indonesian women, and the formulation of a gender strategy for ADB in Indonesia.
