4.1 Project Management Software

The work plan should be prepared and maintained regularly using appropriate software for scheduling project management, such as Microsoft Project or the free software Openproj. Openproj incorporates the foundation aspects of project management into an automated system for recording, planning, reviewing, and tracking projects. Projects are broken down into tasks, timeliness, and resources. Visualization using Gantt and PERT charts allows for critical path analysis in the project planning exercise. Project planning software can facilitate the EA’s task of identifying project status, estimating completion dates, and identifying tasks of concern (e.g., bottlenecks) that have to be addressed.
