9.1.5 Viewing the Critical Path on the Gantt Chart

The Gantt chart provides the network diagram for the CPM. Having identified the tasks and determined their dependencies, you can study the associations between tasks from here and determine the critical paths of the project. OpenProj is a convenient tool that can also help identify the critical paths.

To see the critical paths in the Gantt view of OpenProj, follow these steps:

  1. Open the project file.
  2. Click on the "Gantt" icon on the left menu or "View->Gantt Chart" on the top menu.
  3. OpenProj automatically indicates tasks in the critical path with a red bar on the Gantt chart. Tasks in blue are not part of the critical path.
