9.1 Software Tool Kit for a Tutorial

9.1.6 Sample Project Implementation Template

The Sample Project Implementation file is provided as a template to use as an exercise for the stages of project implementation as described in section 5 of this e-Handbook. Understanding these stages and tasks is required for implementing the first fours steps of the Critical Path Method (CPM) described in subsection 4.2 and in the CPM tutorial.

Two versions are provided for download, depending on which software you want to use. For this tutorial, download the OpenProj version of the file. Note: Other template files are also available for download.

  1. Microsoft Project Version

Download the Sample Project Implementation File through the following links:

  2. OpenProj Version—download file

Once you have downloaded the Sample Project Implementation file, tailor it to your specific project by doing the following steps.

  1. Open the "Sample Project Implementation" file under OpenProj.
  2. Click on "Project->Edit properties" from the top menu bar.
  3. Enter the project name.
  4. Change the start date.
  5. Click on "File->Save as" from the top menu bar and provide an appropriate name for this project plan.
