9.1.7 Review the Project Plan

Periodically, you will need to review the project plan and see if the tasks are being completed within schedule. You can use OpenProj to indicate the level of completion of tasks. Tasks that are not being completed according to schedule should be updated to reflect their current status. Updating the task dates will also update the total project duration and reflect the effect across dependent tasks. To update a task

  1. Double click on a task from either the "Gantt chart view" or "Tasks view" to bring up the "Task Information" dialog box.
  2. To update task completion, simply indicate the percentage of the task that is completed.

  3. To adjust the task dates, indicate an appropriate date constraint for the start date for the task.
  4. Click on "Close" to save your updated task.
  5. View the resulting Gantt chart. The middle black bar on a task bar indicates the percentage of that task that is completed.
