Tonle Sap Sustainable Livelihoods Project

The Project will improve livelihoods. It will increase access to assets in the five provinces that adjoin the Tonle Sap. Expected outputs are:
- Community-driven development is supported
- Establish a community livelihood fund
- Design and implement livelihood investment packages
- Core areas are safeguarded
- Establish an information base on core areas
- Institute a management system for core areas
- Institute an improved network of fish sanctuaries
- Skills and awareness for sustainable livelihoods are built
- Improve coordination for community-driven development
- Enhance the skills base for community-driven development
- Educate for protection of natural resources
The Summary Poverty Reduction and Social Strategy (SPRSS) indicates that the Project will have positive impacts on ethnic minorities such as the Vietnamese and Muslim Cham. The strategy entails giving ethnic minorities equal opportunities to participate. Built-in design features exist to meet their needs and demonstrable benefit to ethnic minorities is a criterion for activities eligible for funding under the community livelihood fund.
Location:
The project area encompasses the buffer zone and core areas. Specifically, it covers 37 communes, comprising 316 villages. (Project Map 1, Project Map 2)
