Rural Infrastructure Support Project
Indonesia

The Project will cover selected provinces in eastern Indonesia with higher poverty levels and lower achievement levels on the Millennium Development Goals than national averages. The selection of provinces also took into account the number of less developed districts and presence of infrastructure poor villages. The Project will comprise two components, namely infrastructure rehabilitation and improvement, and implementation, monitoring and coordination support.

The Summary Poverty Reduction and Social Strategy (SPRSS) states that the Project area is ethnically diverse. As communities are generally ethnically homogeneous and community action plans form the basis for all decision making and implementation, the proposed Project design creates an indigenous people’s development plan for every community. The use of experienced local facilitators further facilitates accommodation of indigenous people’s aspirations and priorities into these plans.

Location:
The selected provinces are East Java, Nusa Tenggara East, South East Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi. (Project Map)
