An Indigenous Peoples'
Development Plan (IPDP) is necessary for this project, because:
- over one-half of the population of the project area is made
up of ethnic minority groups
- significant diversity exist among affected groups
- traditional patterns of resource use and social organization, distinct from the mainstream, is still practiced in the project area.
The IPDP provides a framework for the full participation of all
ethnic minority groups in the detailed planning and implementation
of the project. Through the IPDP, mechanisms have been developed
through extensive consultations with the communities and their representatives
in the project area.
Ethnic Minority Groups Affected:
Bawm, Chak, Chakma, Khyang, Khumi, Lushai (Mizo), Pankhua (Pankho), Tanchangya and Tipra (Tripura)
Location:
Chittagong Hill Tracts, including the districts of Rangamati, Khagrachari,
and Bandarban.
