Southern Philippines Irrigation Sector Project (1998)

The Indigenous Peoples Development Plan (IPDP) ensures that the indigenous peoples maximize the development opportunities provided by the project. The IPDP also incorporates the special requirements of the beneficiary indigenous peoples. Special measures include:

  • engagement of female Maranao-speaking Institutional Development Officer (IDO)
  • formation of women's group among the beneficiary indigenous peoples community
  • preparation of a Maranao language version of the implementation manual, and
  • development of extension and training activities based on local language and visual methods to enable participation regardless of literacy level

Ethnic minorities affected:
Lumads in Caraga Region and Maranaos in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM)

Location:
The Project area covers four regions: Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao; Caraga; Western and Central Visayas (Map). [ PDF: 52kb | 1 page ]
