The Summary Poverty Reduction
and Social Strategy reports that indigenous peoples
(IP) will benefit from the project, and that no adverse impacts
are anticipated. The project enables the government to increase
the employment of ethnic minorities in the agriculture extension
services. In addition, a large contingent of extension workers will
be able to provide better advice and services to agriculture producers
in mountainous areas. Such producers will have access to more productive
and locally suitable breeds and seed varieties. The Project's
improved market system will also benefit the beneficiaries in the
mountainous areas.
