Grant Development Objective (GDO)
To reduce poverty through provision of increased access to services that support women’s social and economic empowerment
Project Purpose
- To facilitate human development for poor women through life-skill training and advocacy support
- To develop and support micro- and small entrepreneurship by providing adequate information, facilitating access to credit, and enabling links to various organizations and resources, and
- To build capacity of institutions that promote woman-friendly entrepreneurial environments.
Expected Outputs
- New 1,500 sqm WDC building facility at Siem Reap; upgraded 900 sqm WDC facility at Kampong Chhnang
- Acquired
- counseling support for 1,000 women
- knowledge of individual rights and advocacy support for 3,000 women
- awareness for good sanitation and hygiene for 12,000 beneficiaries through outreach programs
- Acquired entrepreneurial skills in micro- and small enterprise development for 3,000 women
- Improved capacity of 100 provincial department staff; 40 ministry staff, and 20 WDC staff
- Component A: WDC Facility Development and Upgrading: building construction and facility rehabilitation
- Component B: Life Skills and Advocacy Support: counseling; advocacy support; and life skills training; daycare support/facilitation for about 50 children
- Component C: Micro- and Small Enterprise Development and Support: training for entrepreneurial skills; development of a business referral/one-stop facility for women entrepreneurs
- Component D: Capacity Building and Project Management Support: project administration; procurement of goods and services; capacity building improvements for ministerial, provincial, and WDC staff; poverty impact assessment
- Letter of Agreement between Government of Cambodia and ADB signed 9 March 2006
- Inception mission planned for 17-21 April 2006
