Scope

The Project will target 23 poor Metro Manila communities of about 35,000 people of which 60 percent are severely poor. This comprises 0.35 percent of Metro Manila's total population of about 10 million, and 0.8 percent of the city's population living in slum communities.

Objectives

Overall Objective

To reduce poverty among urban poor of selected communities in Metro Manila through public-private sector partnerships.

Project Purpose

To pilot a strategic role for private sector/ corporate involvement in urban poverty reduction efforts.

Expected Output

To create a new covenant between the urban poor and other sectors of society to achieve demonstrable, high profile results in urban poverty reduction that can be replicated and expanded to other cities

Main Project Components and Activities

The Project has three components:

  • Strategic partnership building
  • Funds for Housing Improvement, Livelihood, and Community Infrastructure
  • Risk Reduction and Management
