Grant Development Objective (GDO)
To introduce alternative livelihood through transfer of technology in setting up the requisite infrastructure and capacity building for the region.
Project Purpose
To demonstrate innovative ways of participatory reduction and sustainable livelihood development among the poorest communities in the three provinces and support on-farm and off-arm value-added livelihood activities through skills development, quality control, and improved links with international and national markets.
Expected Outputs
- Train at least 500 ethnic minority and women beneficiaries in eri silk production
- Train at least 60-70 staff of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and 5-10 staff of Department of Investment in three provinces
- Produce at least 20,000 kilograms of cocoons for marketing
- Produce at least 20,000 kilograms of yarn produced for national and international markets
- Increase incomes of poor ethnic minority and women beneficiaries by at least $450-500 per month by the end of the project
- Deployment of Experts and Support Staff
- Training stakeholders, poor beneficiaries, women for eri silk
production, and setting up revolving fund for cocoon purchase
- Provision of equipment and facilities
- Project management, external audit, baseline survey, and poverty impact assessment
