Project Summary

Building upon the practices and institutional structures established during the State Programme on Poverty Reduction and Economic Development (SPPRED) 2003-2005 process, the TA will assist the Government in integrating the focus on the Millennium Development Goals into its development planning and implementation processes. The main outcome of this TA is the enhanced planning and monitoring capacity of the Ministry of Economic Development to achieve these goals through further planning the next phase of national poverty reduction strategy.

The main outputs of the TA are:

  1. An evaluation of SPPRED 2003-2005, involving stakeholders for their feedback
  2. An integrated training program to improve the planning capacity of the interministerial sector working groups and link their work to the national strategy
  3. A strategy for achieving the country's MDG targets with a fully costed investment plan
  4. The procedures and processes for monitoring strategy implementation
