Project Summary

With the implementation of the National Growth and Poverty Eradication Strategy (NGPES) as mandated by the National Assembly of the Lao PDR in October 2003, public resources mobilization, allocation, and effective application in line with the Government's policy and development priorities is required. This TA will contribute to improved allocation efficiency of public resources according to the Government's development and poverty reduction policy objectives, approaching international good practices in public financial management.

Major outputs include:

  1. Formulation and use (on a pilot basis) of the medium-term expenditure framework (MTEF)
  2. Capacity building within relevant MOF departments, and Committee on Planning Investments (CPI) in the form of increased staff skills, increased computer equipment capacity, and automated database systems
