ADB DG for South Asia Visiting Bangladesh
Dhaka, Bangladesh, 5 February 2007

Kunio Senga, Director General of the South Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) arrives in Dhaka tomorrow (6 February 2007) for a 3-day official visit.

During the visit, Mr Senga will hold high-level policy dialogue with the Hon’ble Chief Adviser; members of the Advisory Council, and senior government officials on sector and policy reforms. The Director General will also hold consultations with the private sector, civil society, and development partners on a wide range of development issues.

ADB's South Asia region comprises Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

ADB, based in Manila, is dedicated to reducing poverty in the Asia and Pacific region through pro-poor sustainable economic growth, social development, and good governance. Established in 1966, it is owned by 67 members – 48 from the region. In 2006, it approved loans and grants for projects totaling $8.5 billion, and technical assistance amounting to almost $242 million.
