ADB Awards Best Performing Projects in Bangladesh

DHAKA, BANGLADESH (18 December 2003) - The Asian Developmenrt Bank places great importance on the concerted efforts of Project Director/Coordinators and the Project Teams during implementaiton of ADB-funded projects under their responsibility. ADB's Bangladesh Resident Mission (BRM) has instituted a Performance Recognition Award Program to recognize each year the outstanding performance of Project Directors/Coordinators and Project Teams.

In recognition of the excellent team work, initiatives, cooperation, transparency in procurement of civil works BRM selected in 2003 two Project Teams as the best performing team and presented the awards at a simple ceremony held on Thrusday 18 December 2003. The awards were accepted by the Project Directors on behalf of the Teams. The Project Teams awarded are:

  1. Southwest Flood Damage Rehabilitation Project (LGED Component). The Project Team was represented by Project Director: Mr. Md Addus Shaheed, LGED; and
  2. Rural Infrastructure Improvement Project. The Project Team was represented by the Project Director: Mr. Md. Saidul Haque

The awards were presented jointly by Mr. Mirza Tassaduq Hussain Beg, Secretary, Economic Relations Division, Ministry of Finance, and Mr. Toru Shibuichi, Country Director, who emphasized the importance of cooperation and teamwork in attaining project objectives.
