The Cone Cage Netter

Man fishing in Myanmar. Rivers and other water bodies provide livelihood opportunities and transportation for millions of people in Asia. In many heavily forested areas with few roads, rivers provide the only means of transporting people and goods, making them essential to local development and trade. Fish stocks in Asia face serious threats from pollution and sedimentation coming mainly from rivers. The Asian Development Bank's strategy for poverty reduction supports the direct involvement of the poor in all water projects.

This painting is one of a series of watercolors by artist Dave Parker painted with water from rivers, standpipes, rainwater, floodwater, and public faucets in developing countries across Asia and the Pacific to raise awareness of water scarcity and quality.
