Project Outcome
Description of Outcome Increase agricultural production in subproject areas through sustainable stakeholder-driven, small scale water resource management systems
Progress Toward Outcome Total 157 subproject construction completed and construction at 136 subprojects are ongoing. Water management associations in the completed and ongoing subprojects are successfully running. High yielding varieties of rice and other crops are being introduced in the completed and the ongoing subprojects

Status of Implementation Progress (Outputs, Activities and Issues) 1. NGO facilitators were selected taking performance in the first phase of the Project into consideration. The facilitators were trained and fielded in April 2003. Total 2,942 subproject proposals were received from intended beneficiaries. Following pre-screening, reconnaissance visits, PRA, appraisal, feasibility studies, 315 detailed designs have been completed. Construction completed at 157 subprojects and ongoing at 136 subprojects. 100% contribution of O&M fund received for ongoing subprojects
2. As per review mission held in May 2008, the total number of targeted subprojects is reassessed to 285.
3. IEE /EIA are included in the feasibility reports. BME systems established in the completed and ongoing subprojects
4. Quarterly progress review meetings held at the district level. Project management and the field level meetings are also held regularly. Capacity development plan was finalized and is being implemented. The plan is updated in June 2006 following recommendations of the MTR. LGED counterpart has been placed for managing this.
