TA 4303: Strengthening Capacities for Poverty Monitoring and Evaluation - Bangladesh

Project Summary

The TA will strengthen the institutional capacity to monitor and evaluate national poverty reduction programs to make government poverty reduction measures more effective. The TA will help the newly established National Poverty Focal Point (NPFP) in the General Economics Division of the Planning Commission set up and implement and M&E framework, based on a clear understanding of the NPFP's roles, responsibilities, and relationship with other stakeholders to help policy makers monitor progress and make actions more effective and efficient.

The TA includes 5 key activities:

  • To develop an Institutional and Coordination Framework.
  • To develop an Interim Participatory Poverty Monitoring Mechanism.
  • Human resources capacity building of National Poverty Focal Point.
  • To develop and implement participatory consultation process.
  • Encourage civic initiatives for monitoring poverty.

The findings and recommendations will help guide and inform future Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper Updates.
