Project Summary

This technical assistance will provide capacity building support to national, provincial and local level stakeholders involved in the planning and implementing a series of Tonle Sap Initiatives (TSI) on sustainable natural resources management. It will draw upon the knowledge and experience of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). Training programs may include: management of rural poverty alleviation projects, environmental and natural resources planning and management, effective rural leadership and participatory approaches.

Key activities include:

  • Building skills and awareness (training program development, based on needs assessments; monitoring of efficiency and effectiveness of modules; and adjustment of modules based on feedback; retraining)
  • Networking knowledge (establishment of a Tonle Sap Office in AIT as an information clearinghouse for the Tonle Sap basin)
  • Strengthening partnerships (exploration of partnerships with bilateral and multilateral institutions, NGOs, and private sector)
