Project Summary

This TA is a pilot project and capacity-building support to governments and communities on innovative participatory monitoring and evaluation system for water supply and sanitation, which will be applied to the ongoing Third Provincial Town WSS Project (loan 1880) in Viet Nam and the Third Water Supply and Sanitation Project (loan 1575). Lessons learned will be incorporated and scaling-up explored in the upcoming loans in these countries.

To be initially implemented in Sri Lanka and Viet Nam, this TA will focus on six activities:

  • training and capacity building on the methodology for participatory assessments (MPA)
  • application of the MPA in selected project areas (pilot demonstrations)
  • documentation of results and lessons learned
  • country specific actions for improved operations
  • dissemination of assessment results and lessons learned
  • recommendations for improvement of the national rural water supply and sanitation (RWSS) strategies
