TA 4110: Community Information Services for the Poor - Sri Lanka

Project Summary
The TA will create opportunities for the poor to participate in economic growth by providing vital information regarding information and communication technology (ICT). The objective is to test two community information networks among district offices, schools, training institutes, job placement centers, hospitals, markets, private companies, and villages to share vital information with the poor and disabled, using cost-effective and feasible communication modes. The main targets of the project are about 2,000 poor and disabled people residing in the two districts (Gampaha and Ratnapura).
The TA has three (3) components:
- Establishment of two community information networks.
- Capacity building for managing community information centers (CICs) and village information centers (VICs) and using ICT equipment.
- Provision of information service.
